The travel magazine azutazo.hu also reported on the first hotel reopening within Eventrend Group’s renewed portfolio: “With the reopening of the four-star Carlton Hotel Buda Castle at the foot of the Buda Castle, Eventrend Group — one of the leading players in Hungary’s gastronomy and event sector — is once again taking an active role in hotel management. The four-star Buda hotel is managed by Krisztina Sárvári, an experienced hotel director who has successfully led several properties before. The Carlton Hotel is one of the few Budapest hotels originally designed and built as a hotel, which is clearly reflected in its structure and layout. The 95-room property, offering seven different room types, changed ownership in the early 2000s and was acquired by Austrian investors first operated directly, later leased out… The hotel is particularly well-suited to accommodate both sightseeing tourists and business travellers.”

The Turizmus Online article summarizes the hotel’s history before its reopening: “Located at the foot of the Buda Castle, this hotel is among the few Budapest properties originally designed and built as a hotel. In the late 1980s, a Swiss investor purchased a plot of land at the base of the Castle Hill and built a hotel that opened in 1990 under the name of Alfa Hotel. In the early 2000s, the property changed ownership, becoming part of an Austrian investor’s portfolio, who first operated it directly and later leased it to the Exe chain — though due to the Covid pandemic, the hotel never opened under that name. The owner later entrusted Eventrend Group with the operation. The accommodation offers 95 rooms across seven different categories, including standard, superior, triple, and family rooms.”

With the signing of the lease-operate contract for the Carlton Hotel in Budapest, Eventrend Group will start to rebuild the hotel business, alongside the successful gastronomy and event areas. On 15 May 2024, the group's management signed the long-term lease agreement for the 95-room so-called bed & breakfast hotel, i.e. a hotel offering bed and breakfast to its guests taking over the full operation of. The hotel is situated in an exceptional and prestigious location, close to the centre of Budapest and all major attractions, including is particularly suitable for sightseeing tourists and business guests.
